The Second Act: Begins with Prayer

2020 and 2021 have been a plot twist no script writer would have written.  We have been faced with hard questions, major problems, rising conflict and deep issues both personally and corporately.  We have seen marriages fail, jobs lost, loved ones pass and health decline.

 

We need a second act.  In a two act story, the first act is where all the problems arise and the main characters flaws come to the surface.  The second act is where the characters grow into the people who can answer the tough questions, find solutions to problems, face their enemies and find true victory.  The second act is not just a hope we have for ourselves, it is how God works and who he is.  He is a God of the second act.  Join us as we explore the book of Nehemiah and learn how God brought about a second act for Israel and how he can do the same for us today.

Fear is a constant companion in the modern age.  We fear COVID, we fear the government, we fear each other, we fear what’s next. It has been rightly said that we live in an age of anxiety. We are worried for our marriages, kids, jobs, callings, health, and that’s just before lunch.  The people of the first Christmas had many things to fear as well, but in the midst of all their fears, God sent angels to tell them to “fear not”.  This message was not just for those of the first Christmas, but it is for us today.  Join us this Christmas season as we are reminded to “fear not”, because God is on the move.

Tell Me More- About the History of Israel and Jesus

This week we take a look at the "boring history" that Alex cut from his sermon on Sunday. We talk through the time between the New Testament and the Old and how that created the political realities of Jesus' day.  We also look at how the genealogy in Matthew 1 is literally an outline of the family of God both in a literal and symbolic sense.

So much discipleship in following Jesus happens along the way. It's often not any particular sermon, event, conference or study that transforms us, but is the conversations we have surrounding those things along the way.  Discipleship happens on the journey, not at any particular destination.
